Sunday Photo Story : Paro Taktsang

Paro Taktsang also known as Taktsang Goemba or Taktsang Monastery or Tiger’s Nest in tourist culture, is located miraculously on a steep cliff in the Paro district of Bhutan. Legend has it that Guru Rinphoce flew to this cliff on a tigress to bring Buddhism to Bhutan from Tibet. This monastery is located on top of a hill and trekking to Taktsang Goemba can be an amazing experience. The trek is covered with forest and at few places you encounter steep ridges. An average person could take up to 3 hours to reach this site.

  3. Hi Karthik, this is an incredible image. I think what I love about it is the dark an ominous nature of the cloud cover along with it being so high up in the mountains making it feel somewhat mystical and enchanting. Well captured!
