My Stay At Walton Hotels Sultanahmet

Walton hotel Sultanahmet is set at a strategic spot which is 5 to 10 minutes stroll away from where most of the sightseeing spots (Sultanahmet Camii & Hagia Sofia) are in. The hotel is well decorated with ancient ornaments and looks modern. The hotel is located in an area which is called Sultanahmet and this region is a very ancient and old city. The hotel is also set near many historical buildings that can be tourist attractions. All you need to do is just to find your way through the labyrinth streets in the area. Do not be discouraged by the appearance of the area – it is a very safe area, though you hardly see many people on the street. I didn’t feel threatened at any given point in time, even when walking back to the hotel at the night time throughout my stay.

Magic box

Upon arrival at this majestic hotel, I was handed a box which contained a IstanbulKart card (for buses, ferries, trams and trains transport), a mobile phone (which can be used as a free WiFi hotspot), charger, flyers and maps, of course my room’s key.

The phone provided has an emergency button, which when pressed send your location to the hotel and they will contact you if everything is fine. Also, you can talk to the reception 24/7 through the WhatsApp group installed on the device.

Rooms

The rooms have been specially painted with the modern oil on canvas paintings, check out this company who can help you with the painting of your room. My room had an iPod Dock for unwinding and also a digital radio to keep me abreast of information locally and internationally. The other features of my room include Parquet flooring, air conditioning & heating systems, a mini fridge and a desk. The rooms are vast and have a flat-screen TV with satellite channels. The other units are a seating area to unwind in after a busy and long day. Coffee machine, tea and electric kettle and coffee beverages were also provided without any extra charge. The room also has a private bathroom fitted either with bathtub or a shower which has an amazing shower head.

Free shuttle service

Another great thing about the shuttle service provided by the hotel was that it was totally free, and have two drop off and pickup points – Sultanahmet tram station and Yenikapi rail station.

Although a free shuttle service has only two points, the IstanbulKart card can be used to go any where in Istanbul.

Conclusion

I would greatly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Istanbul as I had a great time and I certainly look forward to visiting again.
